Drill Team racing has its roots in the early days of New York City where the fire protection companies would race to the scene of a fire with a goal of getting first water on the fire. The first company to get water on the fire was the company that would get paid the fire tax for that building. Out of this spirit of competition grew a unique form of racing team, which although can be found in a few different areas across the United States, has its roots with and is most widely practiced in New York State.
Most Fire Departments around the country that have Firematic Events are more of a “Traditional” Event, with foot races and non-motorized events. In New York State we take it to an extreme. Motorized Drill Team in NY is all about adrenalin and Speed. To Compete and win in Drill Team racing you need to be on the edge.
